MLB: Toronto 5, Baltimore 0     (Sports News)

TORONTO, July 28 (UPI) -- Brad Mills allowed two hits in seven shutout innings and collected his first major league win Wednesday, leading Toronto to a 5-0 decision over Baltimore.

Mills (1-0) made his third big league start, having been roughed up in two appearances last season. He was called up Wednesday from Class AAA Las Vegas and turned in an outstanding 92-pitch effort, striking out four and walking three.

Mills gave up a leadoff single to open the game, but that runner was immediately erased in a double play and the only other hit he allowed was a two-out single in the seventh.

The lone run Toronto scored while Mills was in the game was an unearned one in the second. The Blue Jays finally expanded their 1-0 lead with a four-run eighth. Lyle Overbay highlighted the inning with a three-run homer.

Jose Bautista was unable to extend his three-game home run streak, but he went 2-for-4 and scored once. Bautista leads the majors with 30 homers.

Jeremy Guthrie (4-11) took the loss despite giving up only the unearned run on six hits in seven innings.

Baltimore, which began the night's action with six more losses than any other team in the majors, lost for the 70th time. Its latest losing streak reached five games.
