Daughter urges people not to vote for dad     (World News)

LEXINGTON, Okla., July 27 (UPI) -- A candidate for a judgeship in Oklahoma's primary elections Tuesday got blindsided by his daughter, who took out an ad urging people not to vote for him.

"Do not vote for my dad! John Mantooth is not a good father," trumpeted the newspaper advertisement Jan Schill took out in a local newspaper this week. She also has a Web site with the same theme, and brings up her father's divorces and lawsuits against him.

Mantooth, of Lexington, who is running for a judgeship in McClain, Garvin and Cleveland counties, expressed consternation that a family feud was going public, KFOR-TV, Oklahoma City, reported.

"There's no justification for this sort of a personal attack upon me," Mantooth said. "This should not have been made a public thing. I love my daughter. I want to make peace and that is my goal."

Schill's husband Andrew used to work for Mantooth but left three years ago to become a partner in the law firm of one of Mantooth's primary opponents, Greg Dixon. Edward Tillery is a third candidate in the race.

The Schills now live in Colorado.

"His experience should be looked at. His record should be looked at," Andrew Schill told WFOR-TV. "We've scratched the surface. We've provided black and white examples and I think, if the voters look at that, those speak for themselves."
