MLB: Cincinnati 10, Milwaukee 2     (Sports News)
07/28/2010 05:35 P (EST)
MILWAUKEE, July 28 (UPI) -- Brandon Phillips hit a grand slam and Joey Votto added a solo shot Wednesday to power the Cincinnati Reds to a 10-2 victory over Milwaukee.

Phillips' clout was followed by Votto's blast in a five-run eighth inning that broke open the game and lifted the Reds to a win in the rubber match of a three-game set at Miller Park.

Votto finished the day 3-for-5 with two runs scored and Miguel Cairo added two hits and a pair of RBI in Cincinnati's 13-hit attack.

The win temporarily put the Reds in first place of the National League Central by a half-game over St. Louis, pending the outcome of the Cardinals' game against the Mets later Wednesday.

Rookie Travis Wood (1-1) notched his first major league win in his sixth start, striking out six in five innings while giving up two runs on five hits.

Brewers starter Chris Narveson (8-7) absorbed the loss, surrendering three runs on six hits over five innings.
